Glenvar and James River are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Glenvar Highlanders will look to defend their home court on Friday against the James River Knights at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Glenvar's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
Even though William Byrd scored an imposing 63 points on Wednesday, Glenvar still came out on top. Glenvar took their matchup against William Byrd 75-63.
Glenvar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Dawyot, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Dawyot has scored at least a third of Glenvar's points. Another player making a difference was Aidan Hylton, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, James River's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Patrick County, falling 69-40.
Glenvar's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for James River, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
Everything went Glenvar's way against James River in their previous meeting back in January as Glenvar made off with a 67-45 victory. Will Glenvar repeat their success, or does James River have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
