Garden Plain is 4-0 against Moundridge since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Garden Plain Owls will be playing at home against the Moundridge Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Garden Plain will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Garden Plain didn't have too much trouble with Nickerson at home as they won 44-27. The win was just what Garden Plain needed coming off of a 58-25 loss in their prior contest.
Garden Plain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alayna Hoheisel led the charge by scoring eight points along with ten rebounds. Hoheisel also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Stuhlsatz, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Moundridge lost to Little River at home by a decisive 66-48 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Moundridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Little River is ranked 13th).
The win got Garden Plain back to even at 2-2. As for Moundridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Garden Plain was able to grind out a solid victory over Moundridge when the teams last played back in March of 2021, winning 48-39. Does Garden Plain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Moundridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
