Lanier County is 1-8 against Turner County since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lanier County Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Turner County Titans at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Two weeks ago, things could have been worse for Lanier County, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 35-16 loss to Clinch County. Lanier County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Darien Taylor, who picked up 86 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Turner County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 49-21 loss at the hands of Clinch County. While losing is never fun, Turner County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Clinch County is ranked 132nd).
Turner County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Curtis Grant, who gained 118 total yards and two touchdowns, and Carlton Brannon who threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per attempt. Grant's longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards.
Lanier County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. Turner County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Lanier County was able to grind out a solid victory over Turner County in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 31-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lanier County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
