Basketball Recap: Tri-State Christian Victorious

Tri-State Christian had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 45-44 victory over the Galesburg Christian Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Huskies, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Tri-State Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nehemiah Smith out in front who went 6 for 12 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. Those 14 points gave Smith a new career-high. Owen Reibling was another key player, putting up ten points.

Tri-State Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Galesburg Christian only posted five assists.

Galesburg Christian lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malachi Barker, who posted 19 points and eight steals. Barker is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Movida, who put up 19 points and six steals.

Tri-State Christian's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Galesburg Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Tri-State Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 42-40 loss against Pathway Christian on the 13th. Galesburg Christian will take on Faith Christian in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on December 17th.
