Basketball Recap: Trenton Piles Up the Points Against Dixie County

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Trenton walked away with it. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 57-20 victory over the Dixie County Bears. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trenton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nyima Gillyard, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Gillyard has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played. Peyton Spain was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Trenton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Dixie County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jakayla Henderson, who posted ten points.

Trenton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Dixie County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Trenton has already played their next contest, a 58-47 loss against Fort White on the 8th. Dixie County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
