Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Murrieta Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 84-82 win over Chaminade. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Murrieta Valley relied on the efforts of Parker Steffen, who scored 25 points along with four steals, and Brady Jones, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. Steffen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Collin Ingram, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Long Beach Poly is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. As for Murrieta Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-10.
