Carlson is 1-9 against Woodhaven since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Marauders will head out to take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Carlson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Carlson will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Edsel Ford on Monday. The Marauders were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Thunderbirds. The win was some much needed relief for the Marauders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Addison Skinner was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Taylor Konkus was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Kiley Lewandowski was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Carlson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Woodhaven entered their tilt with Stoney Creek on Monday with ten consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 11. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Cougars.
Like Carlson, Woodhaven also got a great game from a two-way player: Natilee Pridemore. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Pridemore was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Taylor, who fired off three triples and four runs while going 3-for-3. Lily Leblanc also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Woodhaven's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Carlson, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Both Carlson and Woodhaven just can't seem to miss. The Marauders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. However, it's not like Woodhaven struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Carlson was able to grind out a solid victory over Woodhaven when the teams last played back in April, winning 8-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
