Madison Highland Prep has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Tonopah Valley Phoenix at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
After soaring to 76 points the game before, Madison Highland Prep were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-12 loss at the hands of Scottsdale Christian Academy.
Despite the defeat, Madison Highland Prep got a solid performance out of Xchyler Tsutsumi, who picked up 258 receiving yards and a touchdown. Tsutsumi's longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Lungo, who threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, Tonopah Valley put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 52-15 victory over Antelope. Tonopah Valley pushed the score to 40-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Antelope had little chance of recovering from.
Tonopah Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sir-izzik S?nchez caldwell, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 80 receiving yards. Martin Quinonez was in the mix too, providing Tonopah Valley with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Tonopah Valley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. Leading the way was Sir-jessie Caldwell and his four sacks.
Scottsdale Christian Academy's win bumped their season record to 7-2 while Madison Highland Prep's defeat dropped theirs to 5-4.
