The Burke Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. The matchup between Burke and Boyd County wasn't particularly close, with Burke falling 57-40. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Burke has scored all season.
Boyd County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derris Hansen, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Adams, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Burke dropped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road. As for Boyd County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.
Burke won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tripp-Delmont/Armour at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Tripp-Delmont/Armour will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Boyd County, they will face off against Elgin/Pope John at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Elgin/Pope John is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
