Last Monday, Riverview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-43 win over Grosse Ile. Given Riverview's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Grosse Ile is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverview's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Averi Westbay, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Westbay hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Brooklyn Poe was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Milan was the victim of a rough 64-43 loss at the hands of Airport on Monday. Milan has not had much luck with Airport recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
