The DuBois Beavers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (DuBois 3.8, Philipsburg-Osceola 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
DuBois proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Lakeview 6-5. While the Beavers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Noah Farrell and Samson Deeb made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Farrell struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Deeb pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave Farrell a new career-high. At bat, Farrell scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-5, while Deeb scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-7. Farrell also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Tyler Chamberlin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-6. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Madix Clark also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
DuBois kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Philipsburg-Osceola put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Bald Eagle Area a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Mountaineers have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Fischer White, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Lamb, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Philipsburg-Osceola pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for DuBois, their record is now 5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. DuBois has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Philipsburg-Osceola struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
DuBois suffered a grim 21-7 defeat to Philipsburg-Osceola in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Beavers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
