The Ben Lippen Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Porter-Gaud Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Ben Lippen humbled Camden Military with a 49-22 victory. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Ben Lippen had established a 21 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ben Lippen to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braden Marye, who rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Blake Bost also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Ben Lippen's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Camden Military's QB won't forget Jed Essig anytime soon given Essig sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Porter-Gaud put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-7 win over First Baptist School at home. Given Porter-Gaud's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 106th, while First Baptist School is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jammall Fludd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 262 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries. Fludd's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards.
Ben Lippen's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5. As for Porter-Gaud, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Ben Lippen was taken down by Porter-Gaud 42-9 in their previous meeting back in September. Can Ben Lippen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
