Cocoa is 6-0 against Astronaut since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Cocoa Tigers will be playing at home against the Astronaut War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Cocoa will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Cocoa beat Titusville by the very same score they won with last week: 28-3. The result was nothing new for Cocoa, who have now won four contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Cocoa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Latrison Lane, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Brady Hart, who threw for 226 yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Titusville to a paltry 114 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cocoa's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Javion Hilson and Da varrius "peewee" Robertson who racked up four sacks between them.
Astronaut fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. Everything went their way against Space Coast on Friday as Astronaut made off with a 34-14 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-7.
Their wins bumped Cocoa to 6-1 and Astronaut to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Cocoa against Astronaut when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 56-0 victory. Will Cocoa repeat their success, or does Astronaut have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
