The Thomas Jefferson Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Denver East Angels at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Thomas Jefferson unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-46 walloping at the hands of Vista PEAK Prep. While losing is never fun, Thomas Jefferson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 20th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was William Perkins, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Doren Sacha, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Denver East pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of George Washington by a score of 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Denver East has suffered since January 6th.
Denver East might have lost, but man, Maurice Fulcher was a machine: he scored 27 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fulcher has scored all season. Another player making a difference was James Murray, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Thomas Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Denver East, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Thomas Jefferson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 80-65 loss to Denver East in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Murray, who scored 27 points along with two steals.
