Basketball Game Preview: Manila Mustangs vs. Tabiona Tigers

Manila has won three straight games at home, while Tabiona has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Manila Mustangs will welcome the Tabiona Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Manila took their matchup with ease, bagging a 55-28 win over Kemmerer.

Manila got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamryn Slaugh out in front who went 8 of 19 en route to 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Slaugh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sadie Davis, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Manila smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Tabiona took on Wendover on Saturday. Everything went Tabiona's way against Wendover as Tabiona made off with a 55-33 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 122nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tabiona is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Manila, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
