The Rocky River Pirates will be taking part in a tournament against the Midview Middies at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rocky River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Rocky River's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Lutheran West. Surprisingly, this marked the Pirates' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Lutheran West's batters probably weren't too happy with Ava Mae DeMooy, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up four walks). DeMooy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

Rocky River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Midview came up short against Chardon on Monday and fell 10-6. The Middies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Savannah Holcomb put in work no matter where she played. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Dezirae Thomas led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Briana Farkas, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Rocky River moved to 11-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Midview, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Midview's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rocky River has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Midview, though, as they've been averaging 9.8 hits. Given Rocky River's sizable advantage in that area, the Middies will need to find a way to close that gap.
