Softball Recap: Northwood Beats Converse for Their Third Straight Win

Northwood took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Converse, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gators narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 13-11. The win was familiar territory for the Gators, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Corley Moore and Chloe Cosper did most of the damage at the plate: Moore scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Cosper scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, Cosper posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Alaya Cornett was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Northwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .423 or higher in three consecutive games.

Northwood's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Converse, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.

Looking ahead, Northwood will take on Red River at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Converse, they will welcome Benton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
