North Clay/Clay City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Brownstown, falling 81-50. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly North Clay/Clay City struggled afterwards.
Several North Clay/Clay City players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miah Ballard, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Alexis VanDyke was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Brownstown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lexi Seabaugh led the charge by scoring 18 points. Seabaugh hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Miller, who scored 14 points.
North Clay/Clay City's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Brownstown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.
North Clay/Clay City will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Sandoval at 6:00 p.m. As for Brownstown, they will head out on the road to square off against Ramsey at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ramsey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 two weeks ago.
