The Cosby Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 33 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 61-21 win over Huguenot on the road. Given Cosby's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Huguenot is ranked 270th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cosby got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jenaya Gallardo out in front who scored nine points along with six assists and five rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Miah Carter, who scored 13 points.
The win was the third in a row for Cosby, bringing their record for this year to 6-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Huguenot, they bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
Cosby's road trip will continue as they head out to face James River Midlothian at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th. As for Huguenot, they will play host again and welcome Manchester, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
