The Central Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Coral Reef Barracudas at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matches -- so hopefully Coral Reef likes a good challenge.
Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Miami Springs for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-32 victory at home. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Miami Springs is ranked 745th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central found their leader in underclassman Willie Dye III, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dye III has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dwight Carter, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Coral Reef waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins but they left with five. They enjoyed a cozy 62-44 win over Carol City. Coral Reef pushed the score to 44-24 by the end of the third, a deficit Carol City cut but never quite recovered from.
Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Coral Reef, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Coral Reef in their previous meeting back in January of 2016, winning 61-51. Will Central repeat their success, or does Coral Reef have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
