It was a good run, but the Xavier College Prep Gators unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hamilton. Xavier College Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hamilton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Wednesday.
When it comes to explaining why Xavier College Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sarah Miller. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Miller pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominique Nesland, who scored 13 points.
Hamilton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh Thompson led the charge by scoring nine points along with two steals. Ella Malee was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Xavier College Prep's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-4. As for Hamilton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Chandler the next time they take the court. Hamilton will host Chandler at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Xavier College Prep will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
