Even though the River Pilots scored an imposing 55 points on Wednesday, the Parkersburg Big Reds still came out on top. Parkersburg walked away with a 67-55 victory over River. Given Parkersburg's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 12th in West Virginia, while River is ranked 108th in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Trinity Balog, who scored 32 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Parkersburg's points. Another player making a difference was Audriana Medina, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Parkersburg has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for River, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Parkersburg won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty Union at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. Liberty Union is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for River, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Frontier at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
