Winning is just a little bit easier when you nail five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Papillion-LaVista Monarchs proved on Friday. They managed a 55-51 victory over Platteview. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Papillion-LaVista.
Papillion-LaVista got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Demarcus Mccarty out in front who scored 14 points. Brock Rahl was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Platteview's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxon Adams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. Another player making a difference was Braden Staudt, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Papillion-LaVista has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Platteview, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Papillion-LaVista will take on Bryan at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Platteview, they will be playing at home against Beatrice at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Beatrice is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
