Ferndale has gone 9-1 against Hazel Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Eagles will square off against the Vikings at 11:00 a.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Ferndale sitting on five straight wins and Hazel Park on four.
Ferndale barely beat Osborn the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over the Knights on Thursday. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Taylor Williams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Trumpy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Ryan Miller also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Ferndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Hazel Park came out on top against Fitzgerald on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run fifth inning. The Vikings' pitchers stepped up to hand the Spartans an 18-0 shutout. That 18-run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Austin Small and Aiden Seguin did most of the damage at the plate: Small went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Seguin went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Seguin continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cavion Wade, who went 1-for-5 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Ferndale's record is now 5-0. As for Hazel Park, their record now sits at 7-5.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ferndale has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .618. However, it's not like Hazel Park struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ferndale beat Hazel Park 6-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
