Greenon is 10-0 against the Golden Eagles since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Greenon Knights will be playing at home against the Madison Plains Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greenon has seven straight victories, the Golden Eagles have four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Greenon didn't have too much trouble with the Cardinals on the road as they won 66-47. Given Greenon's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Cardinals are ranked 636th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
While Madison Plains couldn't quite beat the Bobcats on Monday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 25-point loss they were dealt on Saturday. Madison Plains fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 40-37. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madison Plains in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost three in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kenzie Vallery, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Mason, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Madison Plains smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grandview Heights only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Greenon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Madison Plains, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.
Everything went Greenon's way against the Golden Eagles in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the Knights made off with a 57-35 victory. Will Greenon repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
