Emmanuel Christian Academy is 0-3 against Greenon since March of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lions will head out to take on the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Emmanuel Christian Academy will be strutting in after a win while Greenon will be coming in after a loss.
Emmanuel Christian Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Catholic Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Irish a 12-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Jack Meyer was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Grady Kohl, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Emmanuel Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Catholic Central only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Greenon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Madison Plains, falling 14-3.
Greenon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colten Houseman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Emmanuel Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Greenon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Emmanuel Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greenon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Emmanuel Christian Academy suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Greenon in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
