Padua Academy will head out on the road to square off against the Hodgson Vo-Tech Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Padua Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Tuesday, Padua Academy faced DuPont in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Padua Academy managed a 70-65 win over DuPont. Padua Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Hodgson Vo-Tech entered their tilt with Glasgow with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Hodgson Vo-Tech really took it to Glasgow for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-22 victory at home. With Hodgson Vo-Tech ahead 37-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Hope Smith had an outrageously good game as she scored 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals. It was the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaniyah Melvin-mcneill, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Padua Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Hodgson Vo-Tech, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4.
Padua Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Hodgson Vo-Tech in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, winning 54-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Padua Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
