Diablo Valley recap Nov. 7, 2012
Clayton Valley extended the longest winning streak in Diablo Valley this week by beating Mt. Diablo, 61-6. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Eagles.
Mitchell Daniels and Olito Thompson gave Concord a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Daniels threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns, while Thompson ran for 162 yards. Teammate Tyler Colby added to the ground attack by rushing for 45 yards.
Joe Pelletier provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Northgate beat Ygnacio Valley. He completed five passes for 116 yards and also ran for 76 yards. Pelletier's favorite target this week was Jake Smith, who caught four passes for 64 yards.
Curtis Grant was the best wideout in the league this week as Clayton Valley topped the Red Devils. Grant tallied two receptions for 70 yards. Tanner Wraa helped Clayton Valley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 51 yards.
5-foot-10 quarterback Austin Hunt of Mt. Diablo is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1362. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, Tim Murphy's team's Joe Protheroe has rushed for 2091 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Brandon Lee. The Northgate star has 38 catches for 558 yards.
In 109 carries Fisi Tavake has accumulated 911 yard this year.
Bryan Shaw's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,858 from 11,932. The improvement was the result of 61-6 victory over the Red Devils last week.
