Owen Valley hasn't had much luck against Sullivan recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Patriots will head out to challenge the Golden Arrows at 5:30 p.m.
Owen Valley blew Bloomington North out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Bloomington North got their revenge. The Patriots fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-2. The Patriots just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.
Haley Amador was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Amador was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Amador wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Claire Paquette, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Makynlee Bonds was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Sullivan made sure to put some runs up on the board against Shakamak on Saturday. The Golden Arrows put the hurt on the Lakers with a sharp 14-8 victory. Considering the Golden Arrows have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Owen Valley, Sullivan also got a great game from a two-way player: Mylee Vandevender. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Vandevender was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jaylynn Hobbs was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aphtyn Earley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Sullivan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.
Owen Valley now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Sullivan, their record now sits at 13-11.
Owen Valley might still be hurting after the 13-5 loss they got from Sullivan when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
