Mansfield and Sayre are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Tigers will square off against the Redskins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mansfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Mansfield and Canton, and Mansfield kept the tradition alive. The Tigers put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 16-5 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Alex Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Davis was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.
In other batting news, Riley Oakes was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Easton Cleveland-Pequignot was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Mansfield hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Canton struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Sayre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Wellsboro, falling 17-0.
Sayre saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Pellicano Jr., who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mansfield, their record now sits at 5-1-1.
Sayre's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mansfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. It's a different story for Sayre, though, as they've only averaged .216. Will they be able to contain Mansfield's hitters?
Mansfield skirted past Sayre 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
