After losing to the Santa Fe Chiefs the last time they met, the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Wellington-Napoleon strolled past Santa Fe with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 56-37.
Wellington-Napoleon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trotter Hughes, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Blystone, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Wellington-Napoleon has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for Santa Fe, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.
Wellington-Napoleon will head out on the road to take on Polo at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wellington-Napoleon is coming into the match with six straight victories on the road, meaning Polo will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Santa Fe, they will be playing at home against Concordia at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Concordia knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Santa Fe likes a good challenge.
