McClain let Amaya Ryan and Olivia Stegbauer run wild. Ryan scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Stegbauer went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Ryan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Milla Everetts, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Zane Trace earned a 4-1 victory over Southeastern on Wednesday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Brynn Wipert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Haylynn Boggess-Pierce was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Maddison Will was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
McClain's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for Zane Trace, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-4.
Zane Trace's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McClain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452.
