Tabiona will take on Milford at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tabiona will be strutting in after a win while Milford will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Tabiona beat Monticello 49-45. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Buckaroo: they've now won four in a row.
Tabiona relied on the efforts of Rocky Rhoades, who shot 62% from the field on his way to 19 points, and Jaxon Olson, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 17 points and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rhoades has scored at least a third of the Tigers' points. Another player making a difference was Cayse Thomas, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Milford managed to keep up with Altamont until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Tigers were outmatched by the Longhorns and fell 69-41. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tabiona will have to contain Jexton Ashworth as he made an impact in Milford's last game. He shot 58% from the field en route to 23 points. Boston Sullivan was another key player, putting up seven points along with five boards and three steals.
Milford now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Tabiona, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Tabiona has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 27.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Tabiona couldn't quite finish off Milford when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 53-51. Thankfully for Tabiona, Kielen Tsosie (who went 6-for-7 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
