The Union Grove Christian Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Guilford HomeSchool. While losing is never fun, Union Grove Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 384th, while the Cougars are ranked 165th).
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordyn Delaney, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Taylor Hanes was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds.
South Guilford HomeSchool's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kailey Bullins, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taliya Davis, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and four blocks.
Union Grove Christian dropped their record down to 9-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for South Guilford HomeSchool, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.
Union Grove Christian will head out on the road to challenge the Conquerors at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for South Guilford HomeSchool, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m.
