The Newberry Panthers will face off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newberry will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Monday, it was close, but Newberry sidestepped Bronson for a 6-4 victory.

Sarah Burns was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tristan Layfield was excellent, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2025. Kora Crudup was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Williston, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Chiefland 11-5 on Tuesday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like Newberry, Williston also got a great game from a two-way player: Aubrey Bertrand. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 11 hits. Bertrand was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Bertrand and Jayla Coleman did most of the damage at the plate: Brooklyn went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Coleman went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Luna Asencion, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Newberry's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Williston, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Newberry has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Newberry couldn't quite get it done against Williston in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 as they fell 7-4. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
