Avery Garvey made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and one run. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jadyn Holdren was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, four runs, and three doubles. Orian Hagen was another key player, going 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.
Southridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Moses Lake and Sunnyside meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Moses Lake put the hurt on Sunnyside with a sharp 23-7 win.
Moses Lake got a massive performance out of Hayden Morris, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Morris continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Avalos, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Southridge pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 14.6 runs this season. As for Moses Lake, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Southridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .584. However, it's not like Moses Lake struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Southridge might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Moses Lake in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Will Southridge have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
