It was a good run, but the Alexandria Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of New Iberia by a score of 36-34. Alexandria lost against New Iberia in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-26 score last time.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyshawn Duncan, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Johnson, who scored ten points.
Alexandria's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for New Iberia, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.
Alexandria won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rayne at 2:45 p.m. on January 5th. Rayne is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. New Iberia won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mamou at 5:15 p.m. on January 5th. Mamou will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 298th, while New Iberia is ranked 18th).
