For the first time this season, Evans will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Lake Howell Silverhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Evans is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Horizon to the tune of 44-0 on Friday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Hawks are ranked 251st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Li'Darious Pryor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries. Gavriel Woods was another key player, gaining 114 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Lake Howell strolled past Harmony with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 26-10.
Evans better keep an eye on Malek Wilkerson. He was instrumental in Lake Howell's win, rushing for 223 yards and one score on only 14 carries. Those 223 rushing yards gave Wilkerson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayvon Funnye, who picked up 35 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Howell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
One reason for the win was Lake Howell's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Atlantis Tarrell, Jermel Jones Jr., and Kierre Perren, who each picked up one sack apiece. Tarrell was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Evans' win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Lake Howell, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-1.
Evans beat Lake Howell 34-21 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Silverhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
