Bri Adams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyndsey Pilcher, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Jones, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Abbeville Christian Academy made easy work of Chipley on Monday and carried off a 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Annston Braddy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Alli Kate Causey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzy Stewart, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Abbeville Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.
Holmes County's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Abbeville Christian Academy, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Abbeville Christian Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Holmes County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Abbeville Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Holmes County keep running through batters, or will the Generals buck the trend?
