1A Conference 6 recap September 17, 2013
Albemarle's Bryan Blanton rumbled for the longest rushing play in 1A Conference 6 this season in his game against East Montgomery last week. Blanton scampered for 84 yards on the play and finished with 127 on the day as his team defeated the Eagles.
Fans got a thrill when Craig Twele and Logan Pautz connected against South Davidson. The longest such play in the league this season, the connection resulted in 85 yards.
Union Academy's dynamic duo of Twele and Pautz proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Twele threw for 297 yards and 5 touchdowns and Pautz had 140 yards receiving. Maliq Pando helped Union Academy's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 100 yards.
The Cardinals' dynamic duo of Twele and Pautz proved to be unstoppable against South Davidson, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Pautz was the best wideout in the league this week as Union Academy bested Joe Cullen's team.
Blanton was the most successful running back in 1A Conference 6 this week. Larry Stanback also contributed to the rushing game with 66 yards on the ground.
Twele put up the best numbers through the air as Brad Hoover's team beat the Wildcats.
Albemarle's Blanton and Timmie White have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Blanton has thrown for 660 yards this season, while White has 11 catches for 368 yards. West Montgomery's Caleb Drake leads the league in rushing yards with 412.
At the moment, the Cardinals are in second, while East Montgomery is in sixth.
North Stanly moved up to 302 from 340 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Comets were able to make move up by defeating West Stanly 26-25.
