Wewahitchka took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Covenant Christian 78-26. That looming 78-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Gators yet this season.
Wewahitchka found their leader in freshman Rhemy Patrick, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Adkinson, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points.
Wewahitchka was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Franklin County earned a 59-52 victory over Graceville on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Seahawks.
Franklin County's win came from a few key players Wewahitchka will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ja'Michael Miller, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braelin Morris, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.
Franklin County's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Wewahitchka, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Wewahitchka hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.4 points per game. However, it's not like Franklin County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Wewahitchka was dealt a bruising 70-33 defeat at the hands of Franklin County when the teams last played on Tuesday. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wewahitchka was down 53-18.
