McHenry hasn't had much luck against Huntley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. McHenry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
McHenry took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Hampshire, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Whip-Purs 8-6.
Kendal Rogers was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Elbrecht, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Huntley came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Tigers 3-1.
Gretchen Huber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Huntley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrina Adamik, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Huntley pushed their record up to 12-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for McHenry, their record is now 9-12.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McHenry hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Huntley struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McHenry suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Huntley in their previous meeting on April 9th. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
