Northview is 0-3 against the Warriors since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Northview Knights are on the road again and plays the Danville Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Northview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Northview ended up a good deal behind the Braves and lost 67-50.
Despite the defeat, Northview saw an underclassman step up: Brayden Goff scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. Goff is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trayven Buis, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Danville waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Frankfort with points to spare, taking the game 67-49. Given Danville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Hot Dogs are ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Danville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zachary Waits, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Lawrence, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Northview's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9. As for Danville, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
Northview came up short against the Warriors when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 75-67. Can Northview avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
