If The Yucaipa Thunderbirds were feeling good off their 34-0 takedown of the Redlands Terriers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Yucaipa suffered a tough 32-8 defeat at the hands of Cajon on Thursday. It was the first time this season that Yucaipa let down their fans at home.
Even if they lost, Yucaipa's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Nathaniel Clark and his two sacks.
Leading Cajon to victory were Brandon Rivers and Evan Powell. Rivers gained 157 total yards and two touchdowns, while Powell threw for 368 yards and a touchdown. B Birmingham was another key contributor, picking up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Yucaipa's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Cajon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Yucaipa will head out on the road to face off against Citrus Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Citrus Valley's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matches. As for Cajon, they will be playing at home against Beaumont at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beaumont is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
