The Tucker County Mountain Lions stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Braxton County 62-20 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Tucker County has posted since December 13, 2023.
Raven Matthews was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Macy Helmick, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Braxton County still got an impressive performance from SkyLynn Abraham, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Abraham is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played.
Tucker County pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Braxton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tucker County will square off against Tygarts Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tygarts Valley is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Braxton County, they will head out on the road to square off against Webster County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in West Virginia (Webster County is ranked 83rd, while Braxton County is ranked 69th).
