Softball Recap: Barlow Finds Playoff Glory Versus Roosevelt

Barlow had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Roosevelt Roughriders on Monday. Considering the Bruins have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylee Pokorny 2025 spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Barlow let Charliann Renner 2025 and Alyssa McCormick 2028 run wild. Renner 2025 went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while McCormick 2028 went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases McCormick 2028 has posted since back in April. Peyton Trickel 2025 was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Barlow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Barlow pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.

As of now, neither Barlow nor the Roughriders have any future games scheduled.
