The Atwater Falcons fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 39-29 victory over Central Valley on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Atwater also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Atwater's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Perez, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Perez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of James Bell, who threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Central Valley's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Darrius Jackson, who threw for 161 yards and a touchdown while completing 88.9% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Anthony Ramirez, who gained 135 total yards and a touchdown.
Atwater is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Central Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Atwater does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Central Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Merced at 7:00 p.m. Merced presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Central Valley in California (Merced is ranked 168th, while Central Valley is ranked 577th).
