The Case Cardinals were the 34-28 winner over the Bourne Canalmen when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Case took a 28-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bourne. Case has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Case's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Melo, who picked up 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Nathan Wood, who rushed for 139 yards.
Case's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Bourne, Tri-County RVT, and Southeastern RVT. As for Bourne, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Case will face off against Seekonk at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Seekonk is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Bourne, they will head out on the road to face off against Atlantis/Westport at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Atlantis/Westport has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Bourne will arrive with three straight victories.
