Jacob Hudson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Matthew Jones was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chase Porter, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Sweet Home was able to grind out a solid victory over Starpoint on Friday, taking the game 6-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.
Like Frontier, Sweet Home also got a great game from a two-way player: Rocco Panepinto. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Panepinto a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe VanDusen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Tom Caruana was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Sweet Home now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for Frontier, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Frontier came out on top in a nail-biter against Sweet Home in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
