Satellite is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will face off against the Eau Gallie Commodores at 6:00 p.m. The last three games Satellite has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Tuesday, Satellite narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Baker County 6-5. That's two games straight that the Scorpions have won by just one run.
Satellite's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Roberts, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Jaidan Batts was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Eau Gallie beat IMG Academy Navy 6-1 on Wednesday.
Carson Lietz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
In other batting news, Brock Lustic was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase McBrearty, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Satellite is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. Eau Gallie's record is now 11-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Satellite has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eau Gallie struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Satellite came out on top in a nail-biter against Eau Gallie in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Satellite since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
